Syntagma Square → Acropolis of Athens
Syntagma Square is the central hub of Athens, directly in front of the Greek Parliament. The Acropolis is less than 2 kilometres away — reachable in just one Metro stop (3 minutes) or a pleasant 20-minute walk through the historic Plaka neighbourhood. Most visitors choose to walk at least one direction, as the route through Plaka is one of the highlights of any Athens trip.

From Syntagma Square, take Metro Line 2 (Red) one stop to Acropolis station
The Syntagma Metro entrance is in the centre of the square, beside the Parliament. Take Line 2 (Red) southbound — it's just one stop, about 3 minutes. Ticket: €1.40 (buy at machines before entering).

Exit at Acropolis station and walk 400m to the main entrance
Exit toward Dionysiou Areopagitou (the pedestrianised street). Turn right and follow the signs. The main entrance is about 400 metres — a 5-minute flat walk with views of the hill above you.

Walking via Plaka
The most scenic option. Walk through the oldest neighbourhood in Athens — narrow marble streets, neoclassical houses, and views of the Acropolis appearing above rooftops as you approach.
Bus (lines 230, 057)
Stop at Dionysiou Areopagitou, directly in front of the Acropolis entrance. Worth considering if you have heavy luggage or are in a rush.
